OUR MISSION

Together, we’re empowering Catholic men to live their faith at home, in their parish, at work and in their community.

Faith

Our goal is to strengthen our men and their families in the faith. When we enter the order, we are reminded to constantly form ourselves in the Catholic faith. This formation goes beyond mere facts or religious practice to an authentic connection with a loving God and his son Jesus Christ. Programs in this category are designed to draw us closer to God and the Chrurch in a tangible and meaningful way. These programs arm us for the spiritual battle that our men and families face daily.

Family

Blessed Michael McGivney sought to strengthen the familial bond of father to mother and children to parents. Catholics often struggle with the reality that they do not have the opportunity to socialize with other Catholic families. It can be a challenge to ground ourselves and raise our children in the faith in a society that seeks to weaken the bonds of family. Blessed Michael McGivney's vision for family life was not only financial and material aid but also spiritual strength, as holiness is the calling of all baptized Christians.

Community

As Knights of Columbus, we are called to serce our family and our God. Our first principle is Charity, at home with our families and i n out communities. This is a critical part of our mission. The Knights of Columbus members come together as one through their council and accomplish great things. Councils that conduct these programs positively shape their communities by addressing the needs of its citizens.

Life

The urgency of the threat to a culture of life cannot be misunderstood. Respect for the dignity of life demands a commitment to himan rights across a broad spectrum. Both as Knightsof Columbus and as floowers of Christ, "Catholics must be commited to the defense of life in all its stages and evey codition" (St. John Paul II, 1995).

OUR HISTORY AND HERITAGE

Founded on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity,
the Knights of Columbus was established in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney,
assistant pastor of St. Mary's Church in New Haven, Conn., and a group of parishioners.
Their intent? To bring financial aid and assistance to the sick, disabled and needy members and their families.
Today, Father McGivney is being considered for sainthood.
